Job Description:

As our Plugin Engineer, you’ll be central to Terminal Africa’s WooCommerce, Paystack and Shopify plugin integrations from ideation through delivery and ongoing improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, as well as end users, to ensure our plugins are robust, user-friendly, and aligned with business objectives.

You have an opportunity to shape our e-commerce integrations, drive new feature development, and ensure the highest standards of performance and usability.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Lead end-to-end development of shipping plugins for WooCommerce, Paystack, and Shopify, from requirements to deployment and support.
  • Develop and maintain a custom Shopify shipping application compatible with Shopify Checkout and Shopify Admin.
  • Implement API integrations across WooCommerce, Paystack, Shopify, and our backend systems.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and front-end teams to deliver efficient, cohesive solutions.
  • Provide technical support, address bugs, and implement new features.
  • Write automated tests, debug, and create clear technical documentation.
  • Assist e-commerce merchants with installation and usage of payment extensions.
  • Build, test, and release plugin updates, ensuring compatibility with platform and API changes.
  • Communicate progress in stand-ups and product demos.
  • Respond to user feedback and continuously enhance plugin functionality.
  • Integrate analytics to monitor plugin adoption, usage, and performance.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience developing on Shopify, WooCommerce and Paystack
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
  • Familiarity with GraphQL APIs and headless e-commerce architecture
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of Shopify's platform, Liquid templating language, and Shopify APIs
    • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and React.js or Vue.js
    • Experience with PHP, Python, or Ruby
    • Experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment tools
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, with a track record of building efficient, scalable solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • A user-centric mindset with an eye for detail and design.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
